So I am using a laptop Amilo Pa 2548 with Windows Vista Ultimate. The problem is some applications run REEEEALY slow even with Aero turned off, which is really bothering me. My laptop has a Dual Core 2GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and games like UEFA EURO 2008 run choppy on it. I am thinking of going with Windows XP, but drivers are hard to find even at Fujitsu Support...
If I downgrade from Vista Ultimate to Home Edition, will the PC run faster? |

They Sent Me The Same Answer Four Times. That Is To Log In As Adminstrator. They Do Not Speak English As I Told Them Four Times I Am Logged On As Adminstrator. I Am At My Wits End. I Have Downloaded The New Driver For Vista. This Scanner Was Fine With Windows. It Will Not Install With Vista. Both Are Hp But Will Not Work With Each Other. Help. |

Recently I uninstalled the nForce Network Access Manager piece of junk the nvidia chipset driver CD puts on your computer (after reformatting). Everything seemed to be fine...
Last night there was an Internet outage, so I restarted the router, but that solved nothing so I left it alone. I turned off (or at least hibernated, Vista is weird) my computer and started to watch movies. When I noticed the wireless on my laptop came back I attempted to access the Internet on my desktop once again, but it didn't want to connect. So I restarted and repaired a few times to try and get my IP renewed, but it would not issue me one. I can access the wireless on the router, and my roommate has access to the Internet, so it is specifically a problem with this computer. I can't even see the router admin panel, nor does it see me. I have tried uninstalling drivers and letting them auto install, as well as using the CD to install again. The nVidia website won't connect to the latest drivers either... When I plug an ethernet cable in it tries to connect to a network. It seems to understand there is a router, but can't establish a link. I'll check the BIOS in a minute... but how do you not let windows install drivers? If I uninstall ALL non graphic drivers, it won't know what the heck my hard drive or DVD ROM is without drivers (SATA). Plus, it does it automatically. Everything looks fine in the BIOS. I have Onboard Boot ROM Lan or whatever disabled, but I have never seen that enabled. I tried using the latest drivers directly from nVidia (website finally gave me access...). Uninstalled Ethernet drivers, and then installed the entire package, so I should have been working from scratch Ethernet wise. Nothing. They show up in Network Adaptors as slightly different names, but they still can't carry a signal. I would reaaaaally like to avoid having to reinstall Vista again. |

I bought this laptop, An Acer TravelMate 2480-2779 with Windows Vista Basic thinking i could easily wipe the hard drive, install XP and be happy with it! The low specs SUCK for Vista, but would do extremely well with XP. Not to mention my undying hatred for this crap OS. Anyway, i run in to the same problem every time. Reformat, Boot the windows xp cd, xp installs, reboots, "Windows XP Load Screen" when it's supposed to load the OS to finish setting it up just freezes!! I even tried using nLite to integrate drivers into the XP install thinking THAT may be the issue. Same brick wall... I know it can't be impossible to install XP on this laptop! Anyone out there have any similar experience with this or know what the problem is? By the way....I can boot linux live cds fine... have not tried an XP live cd yet though, but, i have a feeling that would load flawlessly just like the linux cds.

What is annoying is if i were to plug the 3 wires from the X-Fi Fatality card into the realtek onboard audio i can get sound when i press the test button, however there is no sound elsewhere. Now when i plug the wires into the sound card (X-FI) there is no sound not even for the sound test. My sounds were working perfectly yesterday and this morning when i booted up the computer there just was no sound. Can any of you help me please?
System is running Windows Vista 64 bit edition. All my drivers are up to date on every piece of hardware. The hardware is appearing to be functional and detected in the hardware manager. So i'm completely out of ideas now. PS. Im not changing the OS as some people keep saying to others on here. |
