How can I test and see which graphics cards are compatible with my computer?

Hi. I'm trying to play some games on my laptop. Every time I try it tells me I need Shader 2.0. I know I need a new Graphics Card but have no idea what to get. I have a Gateway M4520GZ. Any suggestions?

Heyy i juss bought the Radeon X 1950 Pro Pci Express.... When i plug it into my Dell Dimension 510 and plug in the monitor cables nothing shows up on my monitor and idk why and my power supply is enough to hand this video cards plz help!

i just got a new graphics card and i found out when i tried to put it in that i got the wrong one, so i put my old one back in, but when i turned my computer back on my moniter isn't showing anything just a black screen and has a yellow light where it is supposed to be green, if it helps i turned off my surge protecter thinking tha that would be good enough.

me an my friend are going to pc world and we need questions to ask the people that work there

we alredy have a few but cant think of any more

these questions need to be quite complex

these questions need to be about computer software, upgrades like graphics cards etc.

I am having a pc with the following configuration.

1.AMD athlon 64 3000 (AM2)
2.2gb ddr2 (667) RAM
3.120gb 360gb sata hdd
4.ASUS M2NPV-MX motherboard (6150 integrated graphics)
5.Odyssey 400watt psu

Till now I was playing older games like Empire Earth 1,Rise of nations, Warcraft 3 etc (mostly strategy) and were working fine on onboard graphics. Now I am thinking to play supreme commander and that is why I planned to buy 9600gso, but I read at many places that this is a CPU intensive game.For that I am thinking to go for AMD X2 4800 and 8500gt card.If I am going for 9600gso I may have change my psu to 450 or 500watt.

Please suggest me which one is recommended or any better choice, I can spend hardly Rs6000/-(~150$).

I like going into a PC World and saying, I need 6 pulse-niad converters, and a D.R.P.X. modem interface....or am I just bluffing?
Of course, there's nosuch thing, but you'll have them stumped, now, I either buy a Dell system and really upgrade it or build my own.
In one case, I brought my custom decked system in, which cost me nearly £7,000 to build, took the side plate off and showed them the insides, the person said; "so what do you need done with it", I responded, "nothing, I just wanted to show you nimrods what a real computer looks like", and this thing weighs over 40kgs total!!!!

I got a hernia, but it was worth it.

My computer runs fine for 9 months and then one morning i turn it on the pc power comes on and everything is running apart from the monitor screen. What happens is as if the monitor is not getting any signal from the pc which is weired because it sometimes work, i cant see anything at all totall blank screen.

Computer desktop powers on perfectly, no beeping codes just runs normally but there is no signal going to montior at all and sometimes jsut sometimes pressing power on after couple tries would get it work but that does not happen anymore.
What i have to do to get it to work soemtimes is by clearing cmos which doesnt help anymore because the montior wont come on still.

I did try taking out all rams and booting up pc, the pc did turn on but there was no beep codes at all what does that mean??

The problem cant be with the harddrives,rams,graphics card or power supply. what could it be that would make my pc not post/ turn monitor on to see bios and windows screen as it normally do, also all connections are tight and secure and connected.
